Gorgeous Luscious Red Lips With MAC’s Toledo Collection, in Opera

Hello lovlies,

Ahhh is there anything better than getting that little black box in the mail? I am here to show you some gorgeous luscious red lips with MAC’s Toledo collection, in the color “Opera”. I don’t think anything smells better than a fresh MAC lipstick, I say it smells like chocolate, my daughter thinks vanilla, it may be a choco-nilla scent. In any case, it smells like candy and is awesome.  I had to put it on right away, thus the lack of my full face because I was not up for doing an entire face of makeup today, but here is MAC Toledo Lipstick, “Opera” a stunning red look that no one can pass up!

Mac Toledo Lipstick Opera Lip SwatchBeautiful isn’t it? I love it! It goes on super creamy and amazing, but has a perfectly matte finish – but not super matte like their “retro matte” sin lipstick.  When I was first putting it on, I thought, “what finish is this exactly?” It wasn’t quite a cream, but didn’t quite feel like a matte either, but it is listed as “matte” and I LOVE it. It’s literally the perfect consistency for lipstick, I wish every lipstick could be this way, it’s awesome.

It’s also just in time for Valentine’s Day! ❤

Did you pick up any of the Toledo collection? I’d love to see your looks!

NUME Classic 19mm Curling Wand Review

Nume Wand 19mm

NUME Classic 19mm Curling Wand Review

Nume curling wand 19mm

Alright, so I bought the NUME Classic 19mm curling wand during a Black Friday sale and since then I had only used it once. So I thought I would pull it out and do a review today giving my honest opinions on it.

I wanted to say that when it came to the curls in the above picture, I first did all of the curls tightly then when they cooled* off I brushed them out to give them more of a beachy/bouncy curl

* note: “cooled off” is an important step, if you do it when they are hot you brush the curls out.

Pros:

  • It gave me something to do on a frigid temperature day, where I can’t leave the house (currently -12 outside)
  • Makes really cute curls
  • Curls hold longer it seems
  • Comes with a glove. Some reviews I read before I made the purchase, said that it didn’t come with a glove and that you needed to purchase one from Sally’s. I decided to take my chances and wait until it came in, and it came with one! So maybe they read all the reviews and decided to up their game.
  • Gets nice and hot, very quickly.

Cons:

  • Retail price point: $139
  • Learning curve; it’s not so easy to learn how to curl your hair without a clip, I had a fairly hard time doing my right side and trying to contort myself to make it work.
  • There’s no stand on the wand itself, so if you have to pee in the middle of doing your hair, you have to carefully hold the wand while you use the toilet, or it’s going to fall off the counter or into the sink, or whatever.
  • Top of the handle gets hot after about 15 minutes of using it, so you have to make sure your hand stays down far enough on the plastic part or you can burn your fingers.

At one point during my hair curling, I happened to look at myself in the mirror and think, “wow, I have like 9 chins right now, that’s attractive.”

Nume Wand 19mm review

and when I looked back at my head I was almost burning myself in the fact with where the wand was… so ya know, pay attention or you could be a serious liability to yourself.

Overall I do love this curling wand, it does take some time to get used to it though. I feel like I should have picked a larger size wand, as 19mm makes really small curls and since I’m not mathematically inclined, I didn’t realize that 19mm was 3/4″. I feel like it would work amazing for people who have thinner hair or not so much volume, but I have super thick Italian hair and I need a larger diameter curling iron or it takes me 2 hours to curl my hair.

Do I feel like it’s worth $139? If you curl your hair a lot, then yes. It heats up quickly, it produces a very nice consistent result throughout. However, they do a lot of sales and if you’re patient you might be lucky enough to catch one. I got mine for $9.99 + shipping during the Black Friday sale and it was totally worth it.

Lipstick and Makeup Organizers

Alright, so I’ll be honest; I have a lot of makeup. Shocking right?! No seriously though, I have 3 large makeup bags full of amazing makeup products and I have been feeling very disorganized and flustered with everything everywhere. So I’ve decided to be very Monica-like (you know, from Friends?) and I purchased some organizers from Amazon so that I can alphabetize everything and put it in it’s own little place.

I just thought I would share the organizers with you because they are actually really inexpensive and a lot easier than DIY ones. I tried the DIY ones and I’m crafty and just ended up tossing it and spending less on the pre-made ones. SO, here they are!

Acrylic Lipstick Holder

Acrylic Lipstick Holder

This gem holds 24 lipsticks, which if I’m honest, probably isn’t going to hold all of my lipsticks. But it’s a start, and I liked that it was tiered so I could have an easier time pulling the lipsticks out. I don’t like the flat box ones because I feel like my fingers would get stuck trying to get one of the lipsticks in the middle of it out.

Cost? Drumroll please; $3.99 + FREE shipping, steal of a deal. I mean really, it’s a good deal and cheaper than any DIY version you’d do yourself.

You can get it here on Amazon.com  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HH5G66I/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00HH5G66I&linkCode=as2&tag=chermcclphot-20&linkId=Q3LLLWB5R7DDD4AR

Acrylic makeup drawer holder

Then there’s this gem which I plan to use to store all of my pigment eyeshadows and blushes.

Cost: $28 + Prime shipping eligible.

You can get it here on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IIUK41E/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00IIUK41E&linkCode=as2&tag=chermcclphot-20&linkId=OZUB6ZOT2XXP7M2E

For my makeup brushes I bought a 6″ glass vase and some pink gemstones. I’ll put the gemstones in the bottom and stick the brush handles in it upside down for a cute little holder 🙂

Do you have your makeup organized? I’d love to see your setup!

The Best Under Eye Concealers

Under Eye concealer

“Are you sick?” you hear.

“No, I’m fine, why?” You respond while thinking,  “Thanks for saying I look like crap! “

“Oh, you just look sick.”

Sound familiar? Dark circles can be so pesky! So besides extra sleep (which we all know we need to be getting anyway, so why even bother mentioning that as an option, right?) what concealers are the best at making you look awake and amazing!? I’m glad you asked!

These are the best concealers due to longevity and pigmentation (coverage).

1. Benefit “Erase Paste” $26

This is for you if you haven’t slept in 3 weeks and you drink 18 cups of coffee a day to stay awake. This stuff covers EVERYTHING. It’s the thick, creamy war paint of moms. It’s the “I was up all night with a teething baby who is having a growth spurt and I still came to work this morning.” concealer.

2. It! Cosmetics “Bye Bye Under Eye” $24

“I pulled an all nighter studying for finals.”
“Really? You look like you’ve slept!”
“Nope. Not at all.”
“Oh come on! You hardly even look tired!”

It! Cosmetics has a great under eye concealer, it’s creamy, easy to apply, doesn’t feel cakey at all. It also has amazing anti-aging benefits and helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Who doesn’t want to look young forever?

3. MAC “Pro Longwear Concealer” $20

It’s no secret that MAC is a leader in the cosmetic industry and has been for a long time. There’s a reason for it; their products are amazing. I never believe the hype but once I got my first MAC product I was hooked for life. So this is a warning; if you buy one MAC product, you’ll want them all.

This longwear concealer is great for a natural medium – full coverage look and has a matte finish, unlike many concealers which dry with a dewey finish.

4. Smashbox “Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes”  $25

Smashbox is another pro-artist favorite, their BB Cream Eyes has moisturizing benefits while hiding the fact that you marathoned Friends all night long on Netflix.

5. Benefit “Fakeup” $24

This is one of my personal favorites. This is more for if you were dreaming about Channing Tatum and woke up right before you kissed him, then got so mad that you couldn’t fall back to sleep. It’s light weight and has amazing coverage.

Were your favorite concealers mentioned? If not, what’s your favorite? I want to hear from you! 🙂

Review: Younique Lipliner in Pompous

Alright everyone I thought I would give you a review on Younique’s lipliner in the shade “Pompous.” I have to say, it’s pretty amazing! I seriously love this color. It is my all time favorite right now! It matches perfectly with my MAC lipsticks that I use for fall colors.

Younique Pompous Lipliner

Younique Lipliner in Pompous

Price point: $15

Pros:

Super creamy, glides on with ease
Lasts all day without needing to be reapplied
Waterproof and smudgeproof
Color is amazing

Cons:

When it needs to be resharpened it never makes the perfect point again because it’s so creamy.

Overall I love this lipliner, it has lasted longer than my MAC, Urban Decay 24/7 and Smashbox lipliners. I only apply it once and it’s good for the entire day, in the picture above it’s just the lipliner with a little gloss over it, so you can see how amazing the color is. It matches with my MAC Sin lipstick perfectly and is the best fall/winter color ever! Definitely something that you need to add to your collection!

Here is a video comparing the Eyeliner (which is the same as the lipliners just in different colors)

Younique’s Uplift Eye Serum

I just saw this video and I had to share it, because it is incredible and shows the actual true results of Younique’s Uplift Eye Serum. This presenter had been questioned a lot if her pictures were photoshopped to show a difference so she made a video to prove that it wasn’t photoshopped at all! You just have to watch it for yourself!

Are you convinced that this is the best stuff ever?! Because I am! Mine will be here on Monday and I’m super excited! haha
